Keyhole surgery.

Minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures performed in-house by Alex — smaller wounds, less pain, and a far gentler recovery for your pet.

Why keyhole?

Traditional open surgery means a single long incision, a longer anaesthetic, and a recovery that often involves cones, restricted exercise and visible discomfort. Laparoscopic — keyhole — surgery uses two or three small ports and a camera, so the same procedure can be done with a fraction of the trauma.

Most pets we operate on this way are bright-eyed and walking comfortably the same evening. It's particularly transformative for larger-breed bitch spays, where the difference in recovery between open and keyhole is hard to overstate.

Laparoscopic spaysTwo-port technique with a tiny camera — your pet keeps her ovaries' blood supply intact for far longer than with open surgery.
Cryptorchid surgeryRetained testicles located and removed laparoscopically without major abdominal exploration.
Liver & bladder biopsiesDiagnostic samples taken with minimal invasiveness when investigation is needed.
GastropexyPreventative bloat surgery for at-risk deep-chested breeds, often combined with a routine spay.

One of very few in the region.

Keyhole capability is rare in independent first-opinion practice. Alex trained specifically in laparoscopic technique and invested in the dedicated theatre kit so River patients don't have to be referred away for it.
